Outfit of the day: Red lips and precious jewellery

Hey, hope you are having a lovely evening. I thought I would treat you and give you another post tonight!

This post will be about my outfit I wore today and jewellery which means a lot to me.

If you have read my previous post then I have all of that make up on apart from I have Rimmel Alarm lipstick on instead. This lipstick is sooo vibrant it's great!

My necklace is a very much treasured piece of jewellery as it was from my lovely other half, it holds very special memories. It is a Disney Couture Tinkerbell and she's sitting on a pearl. I haven't worn this in a very long time as I usually keep it for special occasions now but I thought it would look great with my outfit today.

My bracelet is Vivienne Westwood which was given to me as a '1st year been together gift'! It is so simple in design but just beautiful with the sparkly bow.

It seems such a long time ago now when we got engaged, I think it must be because we had our son just before, and he is 4, so a lot has happened since then! We went to choose the ring together at the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, if any of you have ever been there, it is amazing, it's just basically a whole town of jewellery shops. It has rubies around a diamond on a gold band and I just love this ring so much. The second ring I always wear was a birthday present also from my partner last year when we were on holiday in Cyprus. It is a band of sweet little hearts with diamonds set in them. These rings represent so much! My nail varnish is Liz Earle and I will be doing a separate post on it soon.

This is the finished look, which I hope you like as I loved it today. I think it looks a bit 80's inspired but with my own personal style. I have a shirt tied in a double knot from Asos and a black lace skirt which I bought in the sales from H&M years ago. I have on Ann Summers fishnet tights and ankle boots from Riverisland.

Maybelline: Big Eyes, Baby Skin, Baby Lips Electro

 HI!
I have never been that much of a fan of Maybelline until I tried the Baby Lips so when I saw they had a three for two offer on and the new Baby Electro was included I thought why not!
I got them for £12 from boots.

Pictured first is the large end of the mascara which is for upper lashes, and below is the small wand for lower lashes. This is a great product and really does make my eyelashes more defined, longer and thicker. The only downside with having two wands in one product is that you get a smaller amount of mascara in the main end compared with an ordinary mascara. However this really wouldn't put me off buying it again. Before using this I was using the Soap and Glory mascara and this Maybelline one is so much better and gives my eyelashes more thickness. I was really impressed with this product.

Next up is the Baby Lips electro, well what can i say, this colour is just amazing! It goes on lovely like a lip balm but you can build up the colour so it becomes really vibrant too. I am obsessed with this!

And heres my weird lips...yeah, moving on!

This is the Baby Skin, which a lot of people have not liked! I have got to confess I never tried the original one as I'm not a huge lover of primers. They make my foundation feel strange, but this one, when used sparingly does actually feel nice and it does make my make up last longer and keep it in place. However I must say I can't really see any difference once I put it on my skin, maybe I have too much to blur! What do you think of this product? Have you tried it and do you get on with it? I would be interested to know.
To top my lips off I usually use Max Factor Infinity (I think that's what it is) It works kind of like a lip gloss / balm. This works really well with the baby lips I've found.
This is the finished look, what do you lovelies think? I am loving bright lips at the moment!

Fun Iced Biscuits!

Afternoon all, I made these cute iced biscuits with my son this afternoon and I thought I would share the simple recipe so you can try them yourselves! I'm not an expert and these are just a bit of fun!

Ingredients:

100g / 3 1/2 oz Unsalted Butter
100g / 3 1/2 oz Caster sugar
1 egg
275g / 10 oz Plain Flour
1 tsp Vanilla extract

Icing Sugar
Food colouring of your choice

 What to do:
  1. Put oven on 190 C
  2. Cream butter and sugar in bowl
  3. Beat egg and vanilla extract. Add this a little at a time to bowl.
  4. Stir in the flour.
  5. Roll out dough to 1cm thick, use a cutter of your choice, small ones usually work better for biscuits.
  6. Cook for 10-12 mins -this does vary depending on how big your biscuits are, little star shape cutters are nice to use, I just couldn't find mine so used a scone cutter.

Leave your biscuits to cool and then you can decorate them, always the best part for children!
I use about 400g/14 oz of icing sugar mixed with a couple of drops of water to make the icing. Mix it well then add some food colouring. I use a teaspoon to add the icing and added sprinkles before it set.

And that is it, they taste great and are quick to make!

Thanks for reading,

Home haul: Kitcheny bits!

Hi lovely people! I thought I would show you our new kitchen table and other bits I bought to go with it.

The table is a small square shape with rounded off edges and can be found here from Argos. This one was on special offer for £80 and has a dark top. I've been looking for a smaller table for awhile as our kitchen is quite small. The chairs are very cleverly designed so that they all neatly fit under the table, the seats are like a triangle, with the point meeting in the centre. This is a great table for someone who needs to save space but still needs three or four spaces at a table.

I'm forever breaking and chipping plates, we had our old ones for years so I thought it was time for a pretty set. The teal plates can be found in Next as part of a set of 12 which included dinner plates, small plates and bowls. These were £39. I just love this colour in the kitchen and the little heart is a cute touch.

I bought these glasses from Next too as the 'You, me and the Sea' themed glasses match the blue nicely, plus I love the sea...! Theses glasses were around £8 for two. I have just had a quick search on the Next website and I can't find them so I think they may have stopped doing them, with their new ranges coming in.

These glasses were a set of six for around £9 and once again Next must of stopped selling these already which is a shame as they are lovely! Similar ones can be found here.

The water jug above is in the matching range of 'You, me and the sea' from Next. (Can you spot the theme here guys?!). I can't remember the price on this but I have a feeling it was quite expensive at around £12. It's perfect for chilling water in our fridge-it tastes so much better when it's cold! I know you can get these style of bottles pretty much everywhere at the moment and I'm sure you could pick one up from you local supermarket for cheaper.

The table cloth (also from Next!) was £18, similar ones can be found here. This is wipe-able and a must if you have young children! But I love them as they add a bit of pattern to the room.
The table mats came as a set for £12. They are reversible, which is great if you have small people that like to stain things with spaghetti! Also they are grey!- I am a bit obsessed with having grey and pink together! A similar set is here.

Lastly I bought these cute colourful candle holders which have LED flickering lights in them. I find them great for adding a bit of decoration and colour to the table and they have been lovely to use outside in the evening.

Of course it's getting to be more like winter now! So I'll be doing a little living room haul with a more of a autumn/wintery feel, probably at the end of September.

I really do hope you like this post and it gives you some inspiration. I want to say thank you so much to all of you that are reading my posts, honestly it feels so great that people are reading and commenting on things they love too. Please keep reading as I have lots of exciting post coming soon and add me on @bloglovin too.

Liebster Award Nomination

Hi, now I know this is a bit later than planned, we've had a busy couple of days out so please forgive me! I really need to start doing posts on set days of the week...

So as you can see from the rather fuzzy picture, I have been nominated (by three people!) for the Liebster Award. For a relatively new blogger I am thrilled that I have been given the award and hope it brings more people to my blog. I have had some lovely comments on my posts and I just want to thank you all for being soo supportive, I never thought anyone would actually read my posts.

Thank you to Amy at Amy's Corner for nominating me, please go and take a look at her blog! And to Jodie Jottings and Kayleigh Sunley from Whatkaydoes

Having not heard of the award before I did have to read up on what it was all about. So, the Liebster Blog Award is an internet-based award that's passed from blogger to blogger. It is designed to help people find new blogs to read and follow. I think it's also a pretty nice way of introducing myself to you all!

There are a few rules to follow:
  • Link back to the person who nominated you
  • Answer all the questions that you are given
  • Choose 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers on Bloglovin' to nominate
  • Pick 11 questions for them to answer and let them know

Questions for me by Amy
1. What's your favourite place to eat and drink?
Gosh to be honest we don't go out all that often- with a 4 year old it's usually a trip to Mcdonalds!!
But I do really love Prezzo as it has a lovely atmosphere is there.
2. What's the best beauty and/or life hack you know?
This is tricky! I think it's got to be making my hair wavy, I plait my hair in two french plaits the night before when its damp, then in the morning its soft and lovely waves! Looks like i spent ages doing it but in reality i just hate drying my hair!
3. If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you like to have with you?
Apart from the obvious - water! - then probably a guitar (although i have forgotten how to play)  my camera (I know the battery wouldn't last long!) and a tardis (to get home before it went dark).
4. What's a random fact about yourself that not many people know?
Hmm I'm really not that interesting! My elbows bend back more than they should do!
5. Money is no issue and you get to visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would love to visit Australia, I have a love for the beach.
6. What is your most prized possession?
That's got to be my engagement ring, it's sparkly and beautiful!
7. Name the last film or TV program you watched that you can't stop telling people about it.
It's called Utopia and it was on channel 4- It was amazing! Go watch it!
8. If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?
I'd probably be a Tiger just because i think they are magnificent.
9. What's your biggest achievement to date?
Well i have finished uni, so that's kinda my greatest achievement education wise. I hope to one day soon set up my own business which has a lot of my love for art and design in it.
10. If you could create a TV show, what would you call it and what would it be about?
It would be like a documentary show i think about random people's lives or businesses, a bit like Louis Theroux but following people getting their dreams.
11. What's one beauty-related item that you cannot live without?
Right now it is Kiehl Creamy eye treatment. Magical stuff!

Questions for me by Jodie

1. If you could get on a plane to anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?

Taking pictures.
4. If you could only have make up from one brand from now on, which brand would you choose?
L'oreal because I just love their Eau de Teint foundation.
5. What are your top 3 ultimate make up products?
Coco channel lipstick in Boy.
L'oreal eau de teint
YSL shocking mascara
6. Do you have any weird habits?
No! Of course not!
7. Which 3 words would you use to describe your personal style?
Girly, Unique, not necessarily a trend follower.
8. What would your dream house be like and where would it be?
We are pretty lucky where we are right now, we live in the country but are closer enough to a few towns to go shopping. In the future i would love to live by the sea and be able to walk along the beach every morning with a couple of dogs =)
9. What is your favourite high street/online clothing shop?
ASOS without a doubt!
10. Do you have any go-to everyday jewellery pieces?
My engagement ring and a ring i got for my last birthday from Cyprus are always on my fingers. I don't tend to wear much else.
11. What do your family think about your blog?
My partner is the only one that knows at the moment and he has been really supportive of me doing it! Nobody else knows right now.

Questions for me by Kayleigh
1.Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In work, or working for myself, married, our own house and nicer car with another child. One can dream!
2.What was the last product you bought, that you were really impressed with?
Maybelline's Big eyes mascara is great.
3.What is your favourite book, film and T.V series?
OO i can't remember who it was by but the book is called 'ROOM', that story stayed with me a long time. I love Wall-e and Toy Story's and Coraline. 'Utopia' has been my current favourite tv series.
4. What three things you cannot live without?
Ipad, cuddles, chocolate.
5. What does a normal day in your life consist of?
At the moment it is the summer hols and i have finished uni, so every moment is entertaining my son! A typical day at home, if we are not going out to friends or meeting family looks like this... He wakes at 7am so we get up, have shower, breakfast and he gets to play while i tidy up and daddy goes off to work. I always play games with my son and play outside if it's not raining. We love to go for bike rides (him on his balance bike!) and sort the animals out. Daddy comes home for lunch which is lovely as we all have it together then he goes back to work until 5. In the afternoon we usually read books and I try to encourage my son to do play outside or do some drawing. If he plays quietly I usually come upstairs to write a few posts and catch on Youtube! We all have tea together at 5, in the evening we don't really do that much and it's usually tele time, bath, story and bed for our son. I like to chekc emails and twitter and take part in chats on there. The last couple of nights we have been designing my new blog icons- how romantic!
6. What are the top 5 places you want to visit and why?
America - LA and New York
Australia - Sydney
Cornwall again because its beautiful down there
London again, I would love to meet up with some bloggers and be cool and go for coffee haha.
7. If you could meet anyone dead, alive who would it be?
Well i can't say i would like to meet anyone that is dead...I really haven't got a clue! I'm not the type of person to idolise people so I'm quite happy in my own little bubble!
8. What is your favourite food?
CHOCOLATE- i love kinder bars =D
 9. Whats your favourite season of the year?
I love summer, so i can wear shorts and skirts and walk around with bare feet.
But i also love winter when it's all crispy and i can wrap up with a blanket and have hot chocolate.
So i would say i don't have a favourite season i just hate the rain!
10. If money wasn't an object, what would you do all day?
Run a business myself...
11. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
How to do graphic design on Illustrator.
Speak another language.
Learn how to sew better.

Zoeva Rose Golden Luxury set

 HI!
I'm warning you now, this is going to be a long waffle, so if you'd rather just look at the pictures, that's ok =D

I am so excited to finally show you my new Zoeva makeup brushes. I ordered them last week after spending ages looking at many different brands of brushes. Truth be told I have never had 'proper' make up brushes so these are a bit of a treat! I ordered the Rose Golden Set from the Zoeva site directly and it can be found here. The pricing is in Euros so do be careful when pricing things up but it does convert it for you before you pay. The price for this set in Sterling works out to be £72.50 which includes shipping cost. At first it does seem quite expensive however when you look at what you get for you money, it sure is a good price. It works out around £9 per brush, so if you think of it like that it doesn't seem sooo bad compared with other brushes!
The above picture is how it came packaged with black tissue paper and some cute notes. I thought this was a lovely touch.

 Lets see inside!

Ok, so the bag to the left is a draw string bag which is ever soft and silky, I'm not exactly sure what this is for but I'm guessing it's to keep the makeup brush bag in. As you can see the make up bag is of high quality, in a soft dark brown with Rose gold detail on the zip and the Zoeva name. I adore this bag already as it is a perfect size (24 x 18 cm) to put the brushes and a few other bits in for traveling or just if you want some make up supplies with you when going out.

The collection comes with eight handcrafted brushes. These are made of high quality natural hair and synthetic taklon bristles. This means the set can be used with cream and powder based products.

I have listed the brush name/number in order from left to right.

106 Powder*, 102 Silk Finish*, 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek, 110 Face Shape*, 142 Concealer Buffer*
227 Soft Definer, 231 Petit Crease, 317 Wing Liner*

* synthetic taklon bristles

I left the plastic covers on so you can see how well they are packaged.

The face brushes just look beautiful here.

 Here are the eye brushes.

And a few more photos... :)

Having tried the brushes out this morning I can tell you that they are incredibly soft and feel luxurious to use. I just love them! Please tell me what you think in the comments box.

Love that it has a small pocket inside!

Well done to those of you that have read all that!

 *
Also I am very excited to tell you all that I have been nominated for the Liebster Award!! Yeay! So my next blog post will about that.

*
The blanket I have used for the background I bought from a company called Cuski.
They have some great baby products.

Any questions please do ask I am more than happy to answer.

Paperchase Purchases

Hi there, I recently went to Cheshire Oaks and picked up a bargain from Paperchase.

I adore stationary and anything that comes under that umbrella, so to speak. Since I was a little girl writing stories and a diary I've loved notepads and pens. I'm like a magpie, it draws me in and it keeps me mesmerised for hours.

Its not very often we go to Paperchase, as it's just to far away to make a special trip, I usually just browse online so it was lovely to just wonder through the shop. I new I was going to buy something, I just didn't know what!

I wondered around for ages until I came across a lovely selection of cardholders. And of course I thought to myself, "I neeeed one of these!" Actually it has been really useful to pop in my small hand bag instead of carrying my big purse...

Anyway, I liked the look of this one and as it was reduced to £5 that was an extra incentive! I love the vibrant pink with the polka dot and delicate birds. The material feels great quality too. Here's inside...

 *

My other find was a truly great one, at least it was for me as I love Filofaxes! I noticed as I was about to go and pay that they had a small selection of reduced Filofaxes so I had to go and see.

I found this Pocket size 'Metropol' Filofax for just £12.50!! The original price was £68 so I am extremely happy to of found this. I think it's beautiful and I plan to use it purely for my blog ideas and planning.
Here is the inside, as you can see it has space for a few bank cards, business cards and post it notes. It comes with a year diary, colourful paper, a ruler, dividers, notepad, plastic sleeve, a plastic sheet and a pen loop.

This colour is beautiful and I like the stitching detail around the edges. It just has great style.

Thanks for reading and please leave a comment either on here or on twitter- @Lulatink

And please do follow me on  @bloglovin
Thank you to those that are following me, it means a lot!

My new G-plan Dressing table

HI guys =) Huge well done to those of you that found me here, thank you and hope you enjoy.

Firsty, this is our newly decorated spare room. I decided to go with Dulux pebble paint colour for three of the walls then used some left over pink from the old house for around the window. It's amazing what a difference just a bit of paint makes. I love this room now and as it has the computer in it too I hope to spend more time in here.

For the last couple of weeks I have been scouring the internet for a new dressing table, I just couldn't find one that was right until last Saturday. I didn't want a typical white flowery vintage looking dressing table as loads of people have these. I wanted something different but it had to be compact too work in the space I had.

Last Saturday I found the one that would be perfect and I managed to win it for £62. It is a birthday present from my partner so thank you to him for getting it for me :]

Here it is below.

I love the storage space it has considering how small it is, there is plenty of room for more makeup! The mirror which came with it is a great shape and it does tilt too. It is newly painted in a grey/blue which I think suits it and it goes with the room colour. I think its cool how the legs go out slightly and how the draws overlap at an angle. I am planning on getting a glass top for it too so I will tweet a picture once I have that.

I picked up the silk rose above from a garden centre (I also bought a fish tank, but that will be a separate post!!) near to me. It was pretty pricey at £18! However, I've been searching for one for ages that looked real and beautiful. And you've got to agree it does look gorgeous. I also  bought the glass vase £3.50 and beads £4 from the same garden centre. I bought two packs, one with just clear crystals and one with pink disc beads. I thought by putting them together they would add a bit of decoration to an otherwise plain make up brush holder. As you can see I just have a few everyday make up brushes in there at the moment and my Chanel lippy which has to take pride of place!

I am looking to get some more make up brushes so if you have any ideas tweet me, I would be very grateful of your input.

Thank you so much for reading. Please follow me on twitter: @Lulatink
